Oasis on April 21 - Overcoming

Join us for a very special Oasis on April 21 as five women from our own community share their stories—stories of change and challenge. Each story is unique, but one thing they all have in common—by the grace of God, they overcame their challenge.

Kassandra Thwaites—Kassandra has made a home here in California, while the rest of her family is half a world away in Singapore. Married to Damien, Kass is mom of 5 year old Natalie and 3 year old Aiden. She’ll be sharing the journey that brought her through changes and trials alike. “God's fingerprints are truly everywhere in our lives!“

Sylvia Judkins—Born and raised in Campbell, Sylvia is married to Jim and is the boy-mom of Daniel and Jack. Sylvia is also acting chair of the Women’s Ministry Steering Team. “I’ll be sharing the story of two people who believed in God but didn’t know the first thing about having a relationship with Him.”

Kathy Hall—The wife of our Senior Minister Randy Hall, Kathy is the mom to three grown daughters and is newly discovering the joys of grand-parenting. Kathy will be talking about overcoming a rough start: “Getting past family of origin issues and allowing God to grow us into the healthy productive servants He intends us to be, rather than staying mired in the past and enslaved in the present.”

Freddie Fortier—A true woman of wisdom learned from hardship, Freddie has an amazing journey and so many stories to tell. She’ll share the secret to survival: “Because I’ve lived it, I’ve experienced it and I’ve managed to get through it. The only magic potion I know of is simply God.”

Alina Sayre—Growing up at Campbell, Alina is the daughter of Steve and Paty Sayre. Her father Steve was diagnosed with cancer when Alina was a child. She will be sharing her story of the seeds God can grow from the ashes of a parent's death early in life.

Do you need an Oasis? Oasis is a place for all women—women who work, women who are raising kids, single women and retired women. No matter what your age or situation, Oasis is for YOU. Monthly, 9-11am in the Oak Room. To RSVP for childcare call 378-4900, x264.

"There is a common affliction known to moms today; A.D.D. – Activity Denial Disorder. The prognosis is good and the treatment sounds simple enough – slowing down. The first step to recovery is recognizing you are sick to begin with. Joanne Kraft is a recovering A.D.D. mom herself. Her family of six took a twelve month activity time-out. Some called it their radical sabbatical. Find ways to uncover time-stealers in your life and explore peaceful possibilities. Be inspired by the Kraft family’s journey from busy to blessed."

March MOPS Meeting: Anger Management for Moms

Our MOPS topic is Anger Management for Moms with speaker Teresa Drake

Mommy Anger…a dirty little secret no one wants to talk about. Every mom will experience Mommy Anger to some degree, and yet, it’s a topic rarely touched. Many women have never before experienced personal anger with such intensity and don’t quite know what to do about it. Anger Management for Moms identifies the path of anger; what triggers it and options for calming it — and overcoming it. Moms will come away with tips and tools they can use immediately to: manage their anger in the heat of the moment, reduce the potential for anger down the road, and teach simple age-appropriate expressions of anger and conflict resolution to young children.

Where: In the Oak room on the campus of the Campbell Church of Christ at 1075 West Campbell in Campbell. Parking is available behind the campus off of Victor Avenue.

Introducing the Question Of The Week

This year, let's start a Question Of The Week (QOTW) on our Facebook page where we would post a question directed to all fellow moms.

It is an opportunity to share insights, ideas, and tips and in the midst of it, get to know each other. For those who attended the last Oasis meeting, it is also a way to find bright spots.

This week, we won't have just one question but three of them - inspired from the same questions that our steering team answered here.

- What’s the best piece of advice you were given about motherhood?
- What are your favorite things to do in your spare time?
- What is your favorite way to be spoiled ?

Do you have any questions to suggest ? Have you ever wondered how other moms do things, what worked for them, what are their family favorites, etc ? Well, now it's your chance to ask. We would be more than pleased to have you post your question as our QOTW. Simply email us at campbellmops@gmail.com or message us on Facebook to let us know.
